On Tuesday, Jubilee Chorus in New York City, New York, held the first rehearsal of the 2015-16 season at 244 Rehearsal Studios New York.
Members who participated in the first rehearsal were as follows: Nitya Thomas (soprano), Mihee Gwon (soprano), Naomi Vaughan (soprano), Rachel Porter (alto), Yongsin Kim (alto), Yessica Bernal (alto), Madeline Shaffer (alto), Jeremy Whitener (tenor), Aaron Castle (bass), as well as choir conductor Bill Heigen and accompanist Sangmi Yoon. In addition, a visitor came, who is a singer of the Jubilee NYC worship band as well.
The first gathering and rehearsal of the praise songs was joyful, cheerful and hopeful. The choir learned and rehearsed three of the songs from an upcoming concert program, "It is Well With My Soul" by Philip B. Bliss, "Jubilee" by Tom Bynum, and "Why We Sing" by Greg Gilpin, which they will perform in an October concert.
Jubilee Chorus accompanist and assistant manager, Sangmi Yoon, shared, "We had our first chorus rehearsal of this season yesterday in God's grace. Thank God! It was a full of energy and sounded professional already. I could feel that everyone was connected in the music even though we all came from different places with different backgrounds."
Yoon continued, "It was only the beginning. I lift up all of our hearts and gifts and the glory to our Lord. While I was watching each member and hearing their singing, I was thankful and just had to acknowledge that it's not ours; the talent that each individual has is from God. All we can do is just give back to God what we have received, such as our sincere hearts and time. It was our gracious and thankful first chorus rehearsal. I hope we can keep our energy and spirit in Christ until the end! Praise the Lord our God!"
As the new season of Jubilee Chorus now has begun, the ministry reqeusted in a statement, "Your prayers are needed and will be appreciated for their new season and the Jubilee Chorus."
